DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A middle school student taken into custody on Friday by Daytona Beach police is accused of bringing a BB gun to campus.

Two juveniles were arrested Wednesday after one of them allegedly brought a BB gun to a high school in New Haven, leading to a lockdown. School resource officers assigned to Wilbur Cross High School were alerted at 12:46 p.m. to a report that a student possibly had a firearm, according to the New Haven Police Department.

New Haven police say officers responded to Wilbur Cross High School Wednesday on a report of a student with a gun, but no gun was found and no threat made.

Following the incident, a New Haven Public Schools spokesperson said there will be extra police and security at Wilbur Cross High School Thursday.
