Rangers trade Carson Soucy to Islanders
Digest more
The two rivals haven’t made a trade in over 15 years.
The Islanders sent underperforming forward Max Tsyplakov to the Devils and also acquired a 2026 third-round pick and a sixth-round pick in 2027. Soucy, 31, is a pending unrestricted free agent but Palat is in the fourth season of a five-year, $30 million deal, which is why the Devils sent extra assets to shed his salary.
Soucy is described as a stay-at-home defenseman and makes an impact with key blocked shots, PK minutes and hits. Through his NHL career spanning nine seasons, the blueliner has compiled 507 blocked shots and 647 hits.
