More than 40 million Americans rely on SNAP benefits to afford food each month, but the ongoing government shutdown could temporarily halt that support. To ease the strain, Instacart is offering a 50% grocery discount for eligible users.
In the face of a looming lapse in SNAP funding amidst the continuing government shutdown, Instacart is rolling out a new grocery offer to help families that use SNAP, as well as a national food bank drive to support hundreds of food banks preparing for higher demand.
Instacart‘s new health policy agenda lays out how brands and retailers can tap into audiences receiving nutrition assistance from insurers, the government and emerging “food-as-medicine” programs, including permanent online access for SNAP beneficiaries and medically-tailored groceries in Medicare and Medicaid.
Pet Supplies Plus has partnered with Instacart for deliveries in as fast as one hour from its 700+ stores across the country.
The experience is hosted on Grubhub's platform, while Instacart, also known as Maplebear, handles order fulfillment and delivery through its own network of shoppers. The feature will begin rolling out immediately and is expected to be available nationwide by the end of the month.
