At least seven prosecutors in Manhattan and Washington quit rather than carry out acting Deputy U.S. Attorney General Emil Bove’s directive to halt the case, including the interim U.S. attorney in Manhattan and the acting chief of the public integrity section.

Manhattan’s top federal prosecutor and five high-ranking Justice Department officials have resigned over the order.

Danielle Sassoon, who resigned from her position as Manhattan’s top federal prosecutor, oversaw all investigations into federal crimes in the Southern District of New York, including the corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams that the Trump administration has directed be dropped.
