Just as you may have thought that it was finally safe to think about American politics without thinking about Florida's Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, he has slinked his way into the national news again.

Just months after President Donald Trump’s administration quietly moved to undercut a hardline immigration push by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, the two Republican former rivals appeared side by side on Tuesday for the opening of a new migrant detention center in the Everglades.

President Donald Trump lauded Alabama and other Republican-led states for creating their own versions of Florida’s “Alligator Alcatraz” on Tuesday. Trump made the comments standing alongside Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem Tuesday during a tour of the facility in South Florida.
