Google now uses Gemini 3 Pro to generate some AI Overviews in Google Search. Google said for more complex queries Gemini 3 Pro is used for AI Overview. This was previously announced for AI Mode results back in November and then in December Google began using Gemini 3 Flash for AI Mode.
