The Phoenix Suns were the hottest team outside the Los Angeles Lakers when it came to trade speculation and rumors leading up to last week’s deadline. The noise was directed at their pursuit of then-Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler.

While speaking to NBA on ESPN, Shams Charania shared that the Heat potentially had a window to go after Durant. They offered Jimmy Butler and Josh Richardson, which was not enough to get a deal done. The Suns were interested in trading for Butler this summer but could not engineer a suitable trade. Durant stayed put in Phoenix.
