EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper, one of three netminders on Canada’s upcoming Olympic hockey roster, has been cleared to return after suffering a neck injury against the New York Rangers on Tuesday.

Darcy Kuemper avoided a serious injury when his Los Angeles Kings beat the New York Rangers 4-3 on Tuesday night.

This marks Vladislav Gavrikov’s first time back in LA since he signed a seven-year, $49 million contract with the Rangers on July 1. The 30-year-old defenseman played 179 games over parts of three seasons with the Kings, including 2024-25 when he helped them be one of the best defensive teams in the NHL.

Kevin Fiala had a goal and an assist, and Anton Forsberg made 28 saves after taking over for injured Darcy Kuemper in the Los Angeles Kings’ 4-3 victory over the slumping New York Rangers.
