COLUMBIA (USC SID) – The University of South Carolina baseball team used a season high in runs scored and a solid pitching performance from Amp Phillips in a 13-1, seven-inning win over Princeton Sunday night (March 8) at Founders Park.

USC started the tournament with a 87-64 win over No. 9 seed Kentucky in the quarterfinals Friday. The Gamecocks advanced to the SEC Tournament championship game after beating No. 4 seed LSU 83-77 in the semifinals Saturday night.

The win prevents USC from finishing last place in the SEC for the second-straight season under coach Lamont Paris.

Nick Emmanwori is in his rookie season for the Seahawks after three years as the Gamecocks' star safety. Emmanwori went to Irmo High School, 12 miles from Williams-Brice Stadium and was the 35th pick (second round) in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Gamecocks will learn their official March Madness path this Sunday.
