Charlotte woman wins $500,000 in Powerball double play drawing
A woman from Charlotte has a big reason to smile. Laura Pugerude won $500,000 in the Powerball Double Play drawing after buying a simple lottery ticket. She added the Double Play option for just $1 extra. That small choice turned an ordinary purchase into a moment she will always remember.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. According to USA TODAY, the “Power Play” option costs an extra $1 per play and can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or even 10 times. The “Double Play” option is also an additional $1 per play. Meaning that a single ticket could cost a total of $4 if both “Power Play” and “Double Play” are selected.
New Jersey had 10 Powerball tickets worth $50,000 each sold in Saturday night’s drawing along with a $500,000 winner in the separate Double Play lottery drawing. No one hit the top prize in Saturday’s Powerball drawing, pushing the jackpot to an estimated $1.6 billion for Monday night.
Power Play: For an added $1 per play, you can win $2 million by matching five white balls or increase non-jackpot prizes by 2X, 3X, 4X, or 5X. If the jackpot is $150 million or lower, a 10X multiplier is included. Select five numbers between 1 and 69 for the white balls, then select one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball.
