The Bears have parted ways with longtime strength coach Jim Arthur according to the Tribune as the staff changes for Ben Johnson down deep.

In a new article by ESPN's Courtney Cronin, a team source revealed that Johnson signed a five-year, $65 million contract worth $13 million per year. That's well above what most first-time head coaches receive and speaks volumes about how badly the Bears wanted Johnson. For comparison, former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus made $6 million per year.

Poles was hired on Jan. 25, 2022, two days before the Bears hired Matt Eberflus as head coach. Four days after Eberflus was fired on Nov. 29 with the third-worst win percentage (.304) in franchise history, questions about Poles' job security and his role in hiring the next coach were raised during a news conference.
