The Chicago Police Department launched an internal investigation into the incident Thursday at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse.

Sheriff's deputies took the weapon, quickly identified the officer it belonged to — who was still in the courthouse — and gave the gun back.

CHICAGO - A suburban man was arrested and charged in connection with a traffic crash that injured a Chicago police officer and for allegedly driving drunk on the city’s West Side over the weekend.
