A former agent for ex-NFL star Doug Martin released a statement on behalf of the late player's family on Monday night as details emerged in his death.

Doug Martin's cause of death has still yet to be revealed after the former NFL and Boise State running back died Saturday.

The supervisor called for authorities, telling them that the ex-NFL star had been experiencing a psychotic episode, and investigated whether Martin had jumped out of his second-floor window, having to force her way into his room and finding the window was open and a screen pushed out, per the report.

Doug Martin, the RB who made two Pro Bowls while running for over 5,356 yards in a seven-year NFL career with the Raiders and Buccaneers, died last week at the age of 36.

Doug Martin had been struggling with mental health challenges and "fled his home" the night he died after being taken into police custody, his family said.

Doug Martin, a former All-Pro running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has died in police custody, the Oakland, California, Police Department confirmed. He was 36. Police announced Saturday in a news release on Facebook that an in-custody death occurred just after 4:15 a.m.
