Homeland Security agents make arrest dozens in North Carolina’s largest city. Here’s what to know
U.S. immigration agents have arrested more than 130 people across Charlotte, North Carolina during the first days of the latest enforcement blitz. The immigration sweep that started over the weekend in Charlotte comes on the heels of similar operations in Los Angeles and Chicago.
DHS said it officially launched an operation dubbed "Charlotte's Web" to target immigrants living in the Charlotte area illegally.
Rob Brisley, a spokesperson for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said agents arrested over 130 people during the first two days of the operation.
Representatives of the minority groups offer to assist resistance to federal immigration action in North Carolina and say they'll prepare for the spring return of ICE and Border Patrol agents to the Chicago area.
