Ilia Topuria (17-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) became the No. 1 ranked pound-for-pound fighter after knocking out Charles Oliveira to claim the lightweight title at UFC 317. Topuria bumped Islam Makhachev down to the No. 2 spot.

Concluding International Fight Week in the main event, Topuria knocked out Charles Oliveira to win the vacant lightweight title and succeed Islam Makhachev in the weight class. In addition to making ‘El Matador’ the latest two-division UFC champion, that result also put the pound-for-pound crown in the Spaniard’s possession for the very first time.

Landing a record-setting win at lightweight back at UFC 311, Makhachev has now set sail from the division — with rival Ilia Topuria taking over in his place. Still not ruling out a return to 155lbs, Makhachev wants to fight before the end of the year at the welterweight limit.
