The Catholic Church will continue to allow blessings for same-sex couples — but not recognition for their unions as “marriages” — under Pope Leo XIV, a Vatican official said this week, continuing a precedent set by the late Pope Francis.

Pope Leo XIV has renewed his call for unity within the Catholic Church. He spoke to priests during a special Holy Year week in Rome and he urged them to promote reconciliation and act in communion with their superiors.
