Sam Konstas' Sri Lanka tour is officially over with the teenage star returning to Australia to play Sheffield Shield cricket for New South Wales. Despite an impressive first two Tests, Konstas was replaced at the top of the batting order by the more experienced Travis Head in last week's series opener in Galle.

Teenage Test opener Sam Konstas's next cricket assignment will likely be for New South Wales in their upcoming Sheffield Shield match against Queensland starting on Saturday.

The Australian team won the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle convincingly and will be playing the second Test at the same venue starting from February 6. The side is being led by Steven Smith, taking over the reins from Pat Cummins who is on paternity leave for his second child.
