James Gunn's 'Superman' lacks magic, but it gets one fundamental thing right about the least cool, but certainly greatest, of all the superheroes.
This means that future DCU movies and series don’t need to only move the story forward. They can also take things back in time. A period story about a metahuman from 100, 200, or 300 years ago is perfectly acceptable. This opens up possibilities for different sorts of stories in a way that the MCU has largely had to rely on the multiverse to tell.
James Gunn's reboot of both the Man of Steel and the DC cinematic universe has begun on a largely positive note. A bumper weekend with more than $120 million in takings at the worldwide box office, paired with an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes should have fans excited for the future.
