The Russian president has continued to try and strengthen ties with the U.S. after President Donald Trump returned to office earlier this year.

Russian President Vladimir Putin interrupted an event and walked off stage to attend US President Donald Trump's phone call. In a viral video, Putin could be seen attending an event when he jokingly said he didn’t want to keep Trump waiting — he might take it personally.

In a video that has now gone viral, the Russian leader can be heard telling the audience, "Please don't be angry. I understand that we could talk more. But it's so awkward to make him (Trump) wait, he could get offended.
