(ABC 6 News) — In Iowa, about 183,000 inactive voters have been removed from the state’s voter registration list. Those removed have not voted in an election since 2020. Secretary of State Paul Pete says it is part of his office’s effort to maintain clean voter lists, which he says is a core component of keeping Iowa elections safe and secure.

Both Oliver Weilein and Ross Nusser are one step closer to an Iowa City City Council seat following a primary election on Tuesday. The primary election intended to narrow the three candidates to two.

Oliver Weilein won the Iowa City Council special election primary Tuesday with 69 percent of the votes cast in District C. Ross Nusser finished second with 27 percent of the vote.

"President Trump won in a landslide and I beat Selzer's prediction by 16 points. We have to hold these Radical Democrats accountable!" Miller-Meeks said.

The Iowa Secretary of State's Office says inactive voters who haven't participated in an Iowa election since 2020 have now been marked as canceled. Iowans will get a notice if their registration has been canceled. They then have the opportunity to return to active status and make necessary updates.
