The White House has approved a list of ICE leaders to be replaced by Border Patrol officials in coming days amid disappointment with arrest numbers.

The number of Border Patrol encounters in Arizona and the entire U.S.-Mexico border has been steadily rising since July 2025.

CBP data show that migrant apprehensions at the border rose sharply in recent months, increasing 83 percent from July to September.

US Customs and Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino will appear in court Tuesday to answer a judge’s concerns about federal agents’ aggressive tactics after he was recorded throwing what appears to be a tear gas canister into a crowd.
