SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Travel South Dakota has announced that their Carved in Stone: A Legacy of Teamwork float has received the ‘Americana Award’ in the 2026 Rose Bowl parade.
Highlights of the 137th annual Rose Parade include unusually rainy weather, reminders of fire recovery and a really, really giant fish.
Why it matters: Nearly a year ago, the Eaton Fire tore through whole neighborhoods not far from the parade route, just one week after the 2025 New Year's Day celebration. This year, a float honors those who made it through, and remembers those who were lost. The float is decorated entirely by fire survivors.

“Totals through New Year’s Day will generally range from 0.75 to 2.50 inches across coastal and valley areas with 2.00-5.50 inches across the foothills and mountains. An additional 0.10-0.50 is likely on Friday with the lingering shower threat.”
Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain and his wife will ride on the float, which showcases Louisiana’s certified products. The float features a shrimp boat and displays crabs, rice and oyster shells representing the state’s agricultural products.
