The National Weather Service in Morehead City confirmed a rare EF-U tornado hit parts of eastern North Carolina Monday.

No injuries reported as brief tornadoes touched down near Blue Marsh Lake and between Mohrsville and Shoemakersville, with the second causing minor tree damage.
