Donald Trump delivered another warning to Brazil to drop charges against former leader Jair Bolsonaro over an alleged coup attempt, saying he would be “watching closely” for a response a week after the US president threatened punishing tariffs on the country.

If found guilty, Bolsonaro could face up to 12 years in prison for the coup attempt, with additional years possible for other charges. The Supreme Court justices will soon decide whether to convict or acquit him.
