When Detroit voters head to the poll on Tuesday, they're choosing between City Council President Mary Sheffield and Rev. Solomon Kinloch Jr.
Detroit residents have their final chance today to vote for the successor to longtime Mayor Mike Duggan. The three-term mayor opted to not run again and instead is campaigning as an independent for governor of Michigan.
Polls have opened and voters in Metro Detroit and Michigan communities will choose mayors, city council members, and key measures in Tuesday's general election. The polls close at 8 p.m.

Kinloch's comments come as Sheffield last week reported outraising her opponent by a factor of 10. Meanwhile, polling conducted two weeks ago by the Glengariff Group — commissioned and reported by The Detroit News and WDIV-TV — had Sheffield garnering 65% of the vote once ballots are counted Tuesday evening.
