The Kerala police has arrested Aleksej Besciokov in a money laundering case. The 46-year-old man was vacationing in Kerala’s Varkala, a popular beach destination for tourists. Besciokov is wanted by the US Department of Justice in a fraud case involving cryptocurrency accounts.

The Indian Intelligence authorities arrested a Russian resident accused of involvement with Garantex, a cryptocurrency exchange. The exchange is said to help criminal entities such as terrorists and drug traffickers launder their money.

Besciokov is charged with money laundering conspiracy, conspiracy to violate sanctions and conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business.
