Australia sailed into the Champions Trophy semi-finals after their final Group B match against Afghanistan was abandoned at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the coin toss under overcast conditions and elected to bat in Afghanistan’s must-win last Group B game of the Champions Trophy against Australia.

In case India beats New Zealand on Sunday in Dubai and tops the table, it will take on Australia, which is the second-placed team in the other group. On the other hand, if India loses to the Kiwis, it will face Group B table-topper South Africa in the first semifinal.
