CLEVELAND, Ohio — Northeast Ohio got a full taste of winter over the weekend, with lake-effect snow adding to Saturday’s snowfall and pushing totals higher Sunday. Snowfall totals released by the National Weather Service on Monday morning reflect accumulation during the 24-hour period from late Sunday morning through late Monday morning,
Saturday's snowfall total was 5.4 inches, the National Weather Service says. Now, Sunday's temperatures are prompting a cold weather advisory.
Several counties, including Summit, Portage and Medina, are under a lake-effect snow warning through 7 a.m. on Monday.
The National Weather Service predicts a transition from rain to snow, high winds, and low temperatures for Ohio.
More accumulating snow is on the way.
UPDATE: December 12, 2025, 11:50 a.m. The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has upgraded the earlier Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning for much of the Ohio Valley, including the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia and parts of eastern Ohio and southwestern Pennsylvania.
