Blue Jays, Halloween
Digest more
With Halloween and the Blue Jays back in Toronto for the World Series on Friday, there is plenty to cheer about in the city.
As the ball missiled over the fielders and towards the wall, it — tragically for the Blue Jays — got lodged in the base of the wall. Los Angeles Dodgers centre-fielder Justin Dean had the presence of mind to immediately alert the umpires to the ball that was stuck and made no effort to make a play.
The Jays took two out of three in Los Angeles and have a 3-2 series lead over the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers, with first pitch for Game 6 scheduled for 7:00 P.M. over on FOX.
After Wednesday night’s 6-1 win over the reigning champion Los Angeles Dodgers – a game that saw rookie sensation Trey Yesavage throw a historic seven-inning, 12-strikeout gem – the Jays are on the verge of winning the Fall Classic for the first time since capturing back-to-back championships in ’92 and ’93.
The Blue Jays came back from a 2-1 deficit to take a 3-2 World Series lead without him. Yet Springer’s playoff exploits – an .884 OPS and four home runs, including a go-ahead three-run shot in ALCS Game 7 – have not been forgotten by his teammates.
Front lawns across the GTA have Halloween displays that feature the Blue Jays this year, as Game 6 of the World Series falls on the very special night.
Ahead of World Series Game 6, LA Dodgers slugger Dalton Rushing's girlfriend, Kaitlyn Power, brought some Halloween energy to the skies.
