A native of Leechburg, Pennsylvania, Smith previously worked on the Scarlet Knights' staff in various roles, including as defensive coordinator, from 2009-12 and from 2020-21. He also worked on Schiano’s staff at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013.
