I knew the Okotoks erratic was big… but I didn’t realize HOW big until I drove up to it. This rock is massive – as in nearly 17,000 tons massive and about the size of a 3-story apartment building. And it’s just hanging out in the middle of the prairies south of Calgary. It was transported here from the mountains by a rockslide then a glacier about 30,000 years ago. It’s protected by the government (so you can’t climb on it) and has great significance for the Blackfoot peoples in the region. #yyc
