At age 11, I met my Sicilian aunt in Hamilton, Ontario for the first time. Cruising in her Jaguar, she introduced me to the Gipsy Kings, my first album without English lyrics. I didn’t know what they were saying, but it didn’t matter. The music made me feel alive, transported me somewhere else. She was the coolest person I knew, and her music became mine.
