On this day in track history 33 years ago, May 9, 1987, Mahoning Valley Speedway in Lehighton, Pennsylvania reopens. After sitting dormant for the past 10 years, Mahoning Valley Speedway came back to life in 1987 thanks largely to the efforts of Ward and Dottie Crozier who sprang into action after the previous year’s closing of Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom Speedway and was able to reopen the paved ¼-mile oval. 33 years later under the direction of Jack and Rebecca Carlino the speedway remains
