Isolated strong-to-severe thunderstorms are expected today, especially to the north and west of Tucson. The attached loop is from the Storm Predictions Center and depicts the HREF (Hi-resolution ensemble forecast) probability of outflow winds in excess of 30 knots. The focus for thunderstorm activity today will be to the south and southeast of Tucson. The attached image is the HREF forecast radar reflectivity showing how storms will unfold today. Due to the moist atmosphere already in place and the slow motion of storms, there is a potential for heavy rain...especially across Santa Cruz & SW Cochise counties.
