On January 25, 1995 WCW Clash of the Champions XXX took place in Paradise, Nevada from Caesars Palace. In the main event, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage (with Jimmy Hart) defeated Kevin Sullivan and The Butcher. After the match, Vader attacked both Savage and Hogan. On the undercard, Sting defeated Avalanche by submission and Arn Anderson defeated Johnny B. Badd to retain the WCW World Television Championship. | Davenport Sports Network

On May 22, 1994 WCW Slamboree: A Legends Reunion took place at the Philadelphia Civic Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was the second Slamboree produced by World Championship Wresrling. In the main event, Sting defeated Big Van Vader (with Harley Race) for the vacant WCW International World Heavyweight Championship. Vader was originally scheduled to wrestle Rick Rude, but Rude had to be replaced by Sting as Rude had suffered a career-ending back injury in Japan, in a match against Sting.
